The Jersey Knights Welcomes New Trainer-Coaches Paul Johnson and Shannon Evans!

After a very successful career as an elite amateur, Paul Johnson began his collegiate coaching career with the Drew University Mens’ Team in 2008.  A member of the Men’s National Soccer teams from the U14 to U20 levels and a four year player at the University of Virginia , Paul brings a wealth of experience from the highest levels of American amateur soccer to the Knights coaching staff. 

A Princeton, NJ native, Paul joined the Men’s U14 National Team  in 1997 and went on to captain the U15 and U16 National Teams.  He participated at the U17 FIFA World Championships in 1999 and was twice named a Parade High School All-American.  While a resident at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida , Paul earned the prestigious Rafael Jordan Memorial Award as the Student Athlete of the Year.  He was a member of the 2003 and 2004 Atlantic Coast Conference Champion Virginia Cavaliers and helped lead his team to three consecutive NCAA Tournaments. Paul will be coaching and training with the Knights U16 - U18 boys teams.

Shannon Evans is a welcome addition, to the Knights Women’s Program. Shannon’s focus will be on the U16 - U18 age groups. She will directly train and coach the U16 group and work with all older players in regard to the Knights’ college program. Shannon is currently the Assistant Coach for the NJIT Women’s Team. She has a wealth of experience that includes coaching stints at Stevens Institute of Technology and the World Class U16 - 18 women’s teams.

As a player Shannon competed on the Long Island University women’s Team in 1998 and was team captain in in 2000. She completed her college career by transfering to Rutgers University where as team captain,  she led the Scarlet Knights to a Sweet 16 appearance in 2002. She is USSF licensed and a member of the NSCAA. Shannon is also holds a National Coaching License from the NSCAA.
