Knights Men Earn 2006 Post Season Honors!

Congratulations to all the Jersey Knights Players who earned post season honors for the Fall 2006 season. On the boy’s side, the Star Ledger named Ibrahim Kamara, from North Brunswick HS & the U17 Lancers to its First Team. This is the 3rd time Ibe has been named to the Ledger’s All State Team. He is just the 5th player in New Jersey high school soccer  history named first team all state 3 times. Ibraham scored 27 goals this past season.

Honored on the Second Team is Monroe HS player Frank Carr. Frank led Monroe to this season’s GMC Tournament Champonship. He scored 24 goals and led Middlesex County in scoring with 62 points. Frank plays for the U18 Imperials. In addition, Frank was named Athlete of the Year by the Home News Tribune.

At the county level a number of Knights players earned honors in Middlesex County. First team selelctions include Monroe HS players Zach Theinert (U18 Imperials) and Frank Carr (U18 Imperials), North Brunswicks’s Ibrahim Kamara(U17 Lancers), and Metuchen’s Pat Baffuto (U17 Lancers). Pat, a central midfielder, led the Metuchen Bulldogs to the Group 1 State Final. In addition Pat Baffuto was named to the Group 1 All State Team.

Second Team selections incude North Brunswick Goalkeeper, Justin Smith (U18 Imperials), Metuchen Sweeper, Chris Pisano (U17 Lancers), Nye Winslow from Piscataway HS (U17 Lancers), and JP Stevens’, Sergio Freitas (U17 Lancers). Third Team selections include Mick Samaroo from JP Stevens (U17 Lancers), Ryan Miller from Colonia HS (U18 Imperials) and Chris Gahagan from Old Bridge HS (U17 Lancers). In addition, Nye Winslow and Chris Gahagan were honored with Group 4 All State recognition.

In Somerset County Hillsborough’s Alex Miska earned and second team honor’s and Franklin HS player Glen Fantuzzi earned third team honors. In addition, Two long time Jersey Knights Coaches were honored as Coaches of the year. The Star Ledger honored Metuchen’s Ken Graf as its Middlesex County Coach of the Year. Ken led Metuchen’s Bulldogs to the Group 1 State Final and a record of 17-4-2 . Ken has over 350 victories in his long, successful career at Metuchen High School. The Home News Tribune honored Monroe’s Steve MacKenzie as its Area Coach of the Year. Steve’s Falcons won the GMC Tournament and finished with a record of 21-4.

In Hunterton County, three U17 Lancers earned All Skyline Conference recognition. Those players, all from Hunterdon Central HS,  include Kevin Caruso, Greg Levine and Nick Diversa. In addition, Nick Diversa earned Group 4 All State recognition. In Monmouth County, Tim Hojanscki from Monseignor Donovan HS (U17 Lancers) earned All shore Conference honors. 

The Home News Tribune also honors athletes from their circulation area that includes Middlesex and Union Counties. Included on the Home News Tribune All Area First Team are Ibrahaim Kamara (North Brunswick HS & U17 Lancers), Frank Carr (Monroe HS & U18 Imperials), Zach Theinert (Monroe HS & U18 Imperials), and Chris Pisano (Metuchen HS & U17 Lancers).

Second Team All Area include Nye Winslow (Piscataway HS & U17 Lancers), Pat Baffuto (Metuchen HS & U17 Lancers), and Sergio Freitas (JP Stevens HS & U17 Lancers). All Area Third Team incude Ryan Miller (Colonia HS & U18 Imperials) and Justin Smith (No. Brunswick HS & U18 Imperials).

The Home News Tribune Honorable Mention Team include JP Stevens players Mick Samaroo (U17 Lancers) and Ryan Carey (U18 Imperials), No. Brunswick’s Adam Rudin (U18 Imperials), Highland Park’s Arnie Weinberg (U18 Imperials), and North Brunswick’s Ryan Folger (U18 Imperials).
